Board members discussed priorities for that surplus, including making the library fund whole after a $5,000 omission on a page of the accounting and a possible allocation for cleaning fire department gear that Julia Andrews recalled would cost "a couple thousand dollars." No transfers were authorized at the meeting; the board asked the Town Administrator and auditors to examine proper transfer procedures and to report back at the next meeting.
Selectboard member Nick Nichols cautioned that the year had felt tight at times and urged staff to ensure no unexpected expenditures appear in the current year before reallocating reserves. The board agreed to follow up with the auditors and bring a staff recommendation to a future meeting.
