On March 4 the commission considered multiple county rezoning requests and recommended approval of each with the following outcomes and public input.
CZ-578 (4200 E. 161st St S, Rhonda Brewer): Staff recommended rezoning from AG to AG-R to allow a 1.33-acre lot line adjustment; the applicant was not present and there were no public speakers. TMAPC recommended approval 10-0.
CZ-582 (11425 E 116th St N, Lawrence Poyner‑Amar): The applicant requested rezoning the AG portion of a parcel to CS so the lot would be entirely CS; staff found the request consistent with the GrOwasso 2035 plan and TMAPC recommended approval 10-0.
CZ-581 (816 & 810 Katy St S, Jered McCaskey): The applicant said he and his wife plan to operate a small plumbing business office with six employees, refurbish one house and repair the shop while removing a vandalized house. Neighbor Barbara Shockley presented a petition from nearby residents opposing the rezoning, citing traffic, noise, safety and drainage concerns and presenting photographs of local conditions. Commissioners noted TMAPC only provides a recommendation and that final approval rests with County Commissioners. The motion to recommend CG zoning passed 9-1 (Hood opposed).
All three recommendations will be forwarded to County Commissioners for final action.
