Canvass of Churchill County special election approved; clerk reports Lori Norcutt won

"We did have 11.82% turnout of Ward 1," Rothri said, adding that turnout percentages were "right in line from the general election." She also stated, "our candidate, Lori Norcutt, she definitely won more than 50% of the vote." Rothri asked for approval of the special election held on July 21 and invited questions; none were raised.
A committee member moved "to accept the canvas of the votes of the official Churchill County special election held on 07/21/2026 and directing the Clerk to enter an abstract of the results as required by statutes." The Chair seconded. The board voiced aye and the motion carried. The Chair then called for any final public comment, received none, and adjourned the meeting.
Amber Edwards also stated, for the record, that the agenda was posted in July 2026 between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the listed locations "in accordance with statute." No public commentators spoke during the meeting. The clerk is expected to complete the required abstract filing following the board's approval.
