The Selectboard reviewed an ongoing zoning enforcement matter after Zoning Administrator Harmony Cism sent a notice requiring a resident to remove a post located in the town right‑of‑way (ROW). The resident responded and the board noted the owner is serving overseas and will not return until November. Town counsel advised that cutting the post at ground level would constitute a sufficient remedy if agreed by the Zoning Administrator, Selectboard and Road Foreman and would not harm town equipment.
After discussion about prior notices and outreach, the board voted to wait until the property owner returns so he can meet with the board, while making clear the expectation that the post be removed promptly. Chair Pat Haller agreed to draft an email to the homeowner and the board instructed staff to ensure communications go to the Selectboard rather than solely to the Zoning Administrator.
