UVM student intern outlines outreach plans, partnership with refugee-resettlement agency

At the start of the September meeting a new social-work intern introduced himself and described planned outreach work to connect refugees and other patrons with library services.
"My name is Steve Pastado. I'm a senior associate student at UVM," he said, adding he has been staffing a desk near the entrance to greet patrons, offer consultations, and develop a concise employment guide for patrons using online job sites. He told trustees he also expects to run one-on-one staff support sessions and to coordinate a community day with USCRI, the refugee-resettlement agency, pending the agency’s approval.
Trustees welcomed his arrival and encouraged him to work with library staff (Jennifer) and city partners as needed. City Manager Jesse and others offered additional assistance if coordination with USCRI or city programs is required.
