The Selectboard approved the Brownsville Independence Day Celebrations Committee’s 2026 event application for activities on July 3 and July 4, including fireworks above the Ascutney Outdoors Center on the evening of July 3, multiple food vendors, a brass band at 6:00 p.m., and a parade beginning at 1:30 p.m. on July 4. The application approval was conditioned on the town receiving a Certificate of Insurance prior to the events; the board voted to waive the event application and facility use fees.
Linda and Bill Ley presented the application and discussed logistics, emergency services signoffs, and additional Windsor Police coverage for the events. The board recorded unanimous support for the motion to approve the application, subject to the insurance requirement. The approval authorizes use of town property for festival activities and places insurance and public‑safety coordination on the organizers as conditions of the permit.
