Board votes to support state activities association amendments and names representative

District representatives reviewed three proposed amendments circulated by the South Dakota Activities Association. The first would limit extended varsity eligibility tied to reclassification; the administrator summarized it as, "you would be capped at how many years you could play total." The second amendment would preserve eligibility for students whose school closes midyear so those students do not lose partial-season eligibility. The third discussed post-graduate participation limits and consequences for students who graduate early and return to play in subsequent semesters.

The board voted to support the recommended changes and to appoint a district representative (identified in discussion as Jeff). The chair called for the motion, the board voted in favor by voice vote and the motion carried. Administrators said they and local coaches had reviewed the amendment language and recommended a "yes" vote on all three items.
