Superintendent, principals report graduations, summer meals and upcoming events

Superintendent Dr. John Wyrick reported the District Retirement Reception and said URSA Graduation had 16 graduates. Administrators reminded the public of upcoming 8th grade and LCHS graduations, summer meals sites, and an SEK League track meet.
Superintendent Dr. John Wyrick told the board the District Retirement Reception earlier in May drew a strong turnout and that URSA Graduation held that evening included 16 graduates.
Meadow View Principal Chris Kastler reported 8th Grade Graduation is scheduled for next Monday at 6:00 p.m. and asked administrators and board members to wear black polo shirts. Kastler also said summer meals will be served this summer at LCHS, Mound Valley Grade and Edna Grade to all children. LCHS Principal Stacy Smith shared senior-focused events including a "Back to Kindergarten Day" organized by teacher Kylie Booth and reminded the public that LCHS Graduation is Saturday at 10:00 a.m.; the district will host the SEK League Track Meet on Thursday and invited the community to attend.
Separately, Board member Kevin Cole said he will travel to Topeka for a Kansas Association of School Boards meeting to discuss director evaluation and the 2025–26 budget; he also noted four district teachers were recognized at an SEK Interlocal retirement reception.
