La Cygne hires Buffalo Stripe for citywide crack sealing to extend pavement life

The council authorized a citywide crack‑seal preservation project in late October, awarding work to Buffalo Stripe at a negotiated rate and a defined spending cap. Contractor Tom Beachner told the council routed hot‑pour sealing can extend the functional life of treated streets by roughly 10–15 years if performed before deterioration becomes severe.
Public Works Superintendent Jim Johnson reported field assessments and recommended pursuing the crack sealing while funds remained available in a street resurfacing reserve. At a special meeting on Oct. 24 the council approved Buffalo Stripe’s proposal to proceed at $3.00 per pound of sealing material up to the authorized limit.
Johnson and the contractor agreed to begin work immediately; the project schedule and field sequencing were set to reduce traffic impact and allow prioritized sections to be treated first.
