CCRPC to support Westford plan update, outreach and a Brookside Road pedestrian-path scoping study

Ben Bornstein, the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission representative, updated the Selectboard on CCRPC’s engagement with Westford including a full review of town-plan items against the recently adopted ECOS plan and an anticipated written response from the Land Use Review Board within 15 days on the town’s request for a reduced Tier 1-B review.
Bornstein said CCRPC will provide a data update, enhanced mapping capabilities and three UPWP-funded projects now getting underway: 1705 Public Outreach, Grant Writing Technical Support, and a scoping project for a pedestrian pathway on Brookside Road. He also noted an emergency energy-resilience report among upcoming deliverables and told the board he negotiated $2,000 in savings on one required audit; he abstained on a separate CCRPC language-access program vote because the program’s likely costs and scope had not been established.
Planning Commission Chair Max Tyler said the PC will lead the 1705 outreach and is considering an earlier town-plan update (targeting 2028 rather than 2029) to better synchronize growth-area planning and related grant opportunities. No formal town votes were taken at the meeting on CCRPC projects; Bornstein and local planning leaders described next steps for formalizing contracts and kickoff language.
