A Wasatch County Health Department representative (speaker 4) presented the agency’s 2025 annual report to the Wallsburg council on May 7, describing core programs (environmental health, epidemiology, nursing, WIC, Medical Reserve Corps) and a budget of about $4 million with more than half of revenue from state and federal grants.
Health staff then reviewed local SHARP survey results for grades 6, 8, 10 and 12 (an average of the past three years). The top three student concerns were "others using alcohol and drugs," suicide among friends and acquaintances, and fear of active‑shooter or gun‑violence incidents at school. Staff noted higher county rates for prescription‑drug use and rising chewing‑tobacco use, while vaping and cigarette use were decreasing. Health department staff encouraged council support for community coalition outreach, school partnerships and public information to increase participation in the survey and to connect youth with services.
