Court lifts Alaniz Fairgrounds beer ban for Fall Festival; no sales allowed on site

The Commissioners voted unanimously to lift the county's beer ban at the Alaniz Fairgrounds for the Fall Festival scheduled Nov. 1–3, 2024. Nikolo Guerra told the Court there would be no sale of alcohol during the event and that Department of Public Safety and Border Patrol personnel would be on site to conduct walkthroughs; the motion to lift the ban was moved by Commissioner Eduardo "Eddie" Garza and seconded by Commissioner Rolando Gutierrez.
"There will be no sale of alcohol; it's just to allow for it to be brought on the premises," Nikolo Guerra told the Court when describing the event plan. The Court recorded the motion and approved it on a unanimous roll call. The approval does not authorize on-site sales or a vendor permit; it only removes the county's blanket prohibition for the festival period as described by the applicant.
