Finance Director Ryan Berger asked the committee to approve a $2,750 study to identify the county's liability for post-employment health benefits.
"This [is] a study for us to help us identify how much our liability is for post-employment benefits so we may address it," Berger said. Chair Dr. Luis Moreno noted the low cost: "the cost on this is only $2,750 which is one of the cheaper studies we have had done." Kai Swanson asked that the Health Care committee be kept informed; the committee approved the study by voice vote.
The study is intended to quantify long-term liabilities so the county can plan funding or policy responses; no specific funding action beyond approving the study contract occurred at the meeting.
