States Attorney Dora Villareal requested approval to fill an existing position in her office that had been left vacant for several years.
Villareal said the county had been "lucky enough to find candidate who [is a] newer Attorney" and asked the committee to approve restoring the position at entry pay to address multiple openings. She framed the request as consistent with prior committee practice of allowing department heads to retain unfilled positions for later reactivation. The committee approved the request by voice vote; Kai Swanson moved and Brian Vyncke seconded the motion.
Committee members noted the request aligned with past practice and did not require an increase to the authorized head-count beyond reactivating the existing slot. The committee recorded the motion as carried on voice vote.
