Tollway highlights summer internship program and community outreach

Cassandra reported to the board that this summer the Tollway hosted more than 38 interns who spent over 10 weeks working across 13 departments and representing 25 colleges and universities in six states. She credited staff mentors and the Department of Administration for supporting the program and said leadership benefited from the interns' capstone presentations.
"This year, we had over 38 interns," Cassandra said, noting the interns also supported the Tollway's first back-to-school supply drive and volunteered with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County. She previewed a video of outreach efforts and called out the iPass on-demand and safety teams for distributing more than 300 kid ID cards at the Pavilion Parade as part of iPass outreach and iPass Assist promotions.
Board members thanked staff for the community engagement and regular updates. The report framed the internship program as both workforce development and public outreach.
