A staff member said the long‑awaited generator for the Newberry Lift Station is scheduled for delivery next week after an extended installation period, and staff noted a recent pipe‑signing to recognize the near‑completion of the city’s water and sewer project.
The same staff member announced that Rachel Vickers, who previously served as an associate planner, has accepted an offer to become the city’s new community development director. “She’s accepted the offer of employment and will be our new community development director,” staff said.
Planning staff also outlined next steps for the Transportation System Plan (TSP) update and related engagement: the project advisory committee is meeting next Wednesday and the TSP’s first public outreach event is scheduled for June 25 at 5 p.m. at Music in the Pines. Staff said the county was awarded a Safe Routes to School technical assistance planning grant that covers the La Pine area; the planning grant will assess infrastructure needs within a two‑mile radius of the city’s schools and help scope future construction funding from ODOT.
