The Wallsburg Town Council adopted Ordinance 2026-01 on April 9 to formalize procedures for billing, late fees, service disconnection and the certification of delinquent water charges to the Wasatch County tax roll. The ordinance sets monthly billing due dates, establishes that accounts unpaid for 90 days may be considered for disconnection and lien certification, and requires written, hand-delivered and mailed notice to property owners before disconnection.
Councilors discussed implementation details including an $80 flat fee the sheriff charges to serve delinquency notices and the possibility of adding reconnection fees. One council member noted bankruptcy procedures: when a resident files for bankruptcy, the town must file a claim with the bankruptcy court. "Delinquent accounts that have not been paid in full in 90 days shall be considered for service disconnection and certification of delinquent charges to the county tax roll," the ordinance reads. A motion to adopt was made by S6, seconded by S2, and the adoption passed by unanimous voice vote; the mayor signed the ordinance on the record.
