Terry Scott elected chair as Harvey County commissioners reorganize

The Board of Harvey County Commissioners completed its annual reorganization on Jan. 13, 2026. Commissioner Don Schroeder made a motion to appoint Commissioner Terry Scott as Chairperson and Commissioner Becky Reimer as Vice-Chairperson; Becky Reimer seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. Following the vote, Chairperson Scott assumed responsibility for conducting the remainder of the meeting.
On committee assignments, Schroeder suggested rotating committee listings so each commissioner would serve on different groupings and "experience being a member of each of the different committees." Commissioners discussed the options and agreed to table detailed assignment changes until the following week, leaving the commission calendar and committee membership to be finalized later.
The reorganization vote was procedural and unanimous; the board also noted upcoming meetings and a recurring monthly work session schedule to begin in February.
