Harvey County and City of Newton approve updated road maintenance agreement

The Harvey County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved an updated county–city road maintenance agreement with the City of Newton on Jan. 6.
Jim Meier, Road & Bridge Superintendent, presented the agreement update, noting it includes the City of Newton taking maintenance responsibility for S. Hillside from E. 1st St. to SE 12th St. Meier said future maintenance of E. 1st St. east to Oliver Road was not discussed with the city but could be considered if improvements occur.
Commissioner Becky Reimer moved to approve the agreement as presented; Commissioner Terry Scott seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board did not attach conditions to the approval.
