Board certifies Budde Enterprises' property tax exemption compliance

The Harvey County Commission voted unanimously to certify that Budde Enterprises, Inc. met the terms of its property tax exemption for the exempt portion of its facility valuation.
County Clerk Rick Piepho presented the exemption review and the staff memorandum with valuation figures. Carrie Budde, president of Budde Enterprises, described the family-owned fabrication and railroad-repair business, said the expansion covered by the exemption occurred in 2018 and reported employment growth from 12 employees in 2005 to about 40 currently; she said the company has four open positions and expects another generation to continue operation.
Piepho provided valuation information in the staff packet showing the exempt portion’s 2025 appraised value (exempt portion) and associated tax savings. The commission voted to certify compliance and authorized the chair to sign the certification.
Why this matters: The certified exemption reduces tax liability for the exempt portion of Budde’s property and is tied to the company’s investment and operations that county staff and the Harvey County EDC track as part of economic development policy.
