Harvey County approves $60,634 purchase of Ford F-150 for sheriff's patrol

The Board of Harvey County Commissioners authorized the Sheriff's Office to purchase a Ford F-150 patrol truck from Superior Emergency Response Vehicles (SERV) for $60,634.34. Undersheriff Shawn Chapman said the department is replacing several vehicles this year under the equipment replacement plan and that SERV currently has a truck on hand that meets the department's specifications.
"SERV has a F-150 in stock currently that meets our specifications for a patrol truck," Undersheriff Shawn Chapman said. Commissioners voted unanimously to waive the purchasing policy and allow staff to sign the paperwork authorizing the purchase. The item was budgeted within the 2026 vehicle replacement plan; the actual quote exceeded the $60,000 estimate by $634.34, which staff said would be balanced by lower-than-expected costs on other upcoming vehicle purchases.
The upfitted vehicle estimate included lighting, push bumper, console, weapon rack and professional installation; the SERV estimate lists a total price of $60,634.34. Commission action enables the Sheriff's Office to add this F-150 to the scheduled replacement cycle and to return to the commission later for approval of remaining ordered units when delivered.
