During public comment at the May 5 meeting three residents spoke on separate but related planning and civic topics. Meghan Wright of Towanda discussed protest petitions in Butler County and invited commissioners to two community events: a Community Prayer Meeting at the Kansas Oil Museum on May 7 at 6:00 p.m. and a "Protecting the Heartland" program at Goddard High School Auditorium on May 12 at 7:00 p.m.; Wright and her daughter presented small bags of cookies to the Board. Sarah Hinshaw of El Dorado requested clarification from the Board on extraterritorial jurisdictions (ETJ), City and County obligation bonds, and the County's Conditional Use Permit (CUP) policy. Amy Gardner spoke in support of—or to request information about—the County's updated Comprehensive Plan.
None of the public comments prompted immediate formal action recorded in the minutes; the items were noted for the record and could prompt follow-up with Community Development staff for clarification on ETJ, bond responsibilities and CUP procedures.
