The Butler County Board of Commissioners approved awarding the county's 2026 liquid asphalt purchases to Ergon Asphalt and Emulsions after one bidder rescinded, leaving Ergon as the sole responsive bidder. Public Works Director Curtis Mader told the Board the county purchases approximately 600,000–800,000 gallons of liquid asphalt each year for maintenance and chip-seal work; Commissioners voted 5-0 to approve the award at the stated prices.
Mader and the Board also discussed traffic impacts and project timing: truck traffic using an unofficial detour on the SW County Line Road project, a temporary closure planned for a low-water bridge one mile west of NW 100th Street, and the SW Ohio Street/SW 20th Street roundabout beginning next Monday. Mader reported the NW 30th Street paving project is about 30 days behind schedule because of insufficient semi-trucks to haul materials, a delay the Board said they will continue to monitor.
