Board sets March 24 public hearing for Eganhaus rezoning at 30571 396th Ave

Becca, representing Zonix, told the board the Jackson County Zoning Commission held a properly noticed hearing on Feb. 16 for case ZC26-01, a request by Susan and Roger Eganhaus to rezone property at 30571 396th Avenue in Desmoor Township from A-1 agricultural to C-1 highway commercial to allow mini-warehouse rental storage and a limited unattended accessory vending machine. "There were no formal objections submitted at the zoning commission hearing," Becca said, and asked the board to set a public hearing on proposed Ordinance 3-22 for March 24, 2026 at 9 a.m.
Supervisor Mike moved to set the hearing and Ninh seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote. The board record shows the action to set the public hearing satisfies statutory publication requirements cited by staff. The zoning staff summary said the property currently contains an enclosed storage building and the rezoning request is intended to bring the existing use into conformance under the C-1 storage category.
The public hearing is scheduled to give neighbors and other interested parties an opportunity to comment before the board considers final action on Ordinance 3-22. The board did not record any substantive objections during the motion; the case will return to the supervisors following the public hearing and any additional filings or testimony.
