La Pine welcomes community development director; staff pauses Kegel infill and housing-code work

Rachel, introduced by the chair as La Pine’s community development director, told commissioners at a July 1 session at Pine City Hall that she is focusing the department on internal operations before taking on new initiatives. “I’m still just kinda getting my feet from underneath me,” she said, adding that the Transportation System Plan, or TSP, is still moving forward.
Rachel said two projects—the Kegel infill project and a housing-code amendment—have been put on pause while staff concentrate on response and turnaround times and coordination with CPOB. “So we’re gonna kinda focus on, response times, turnaround times for all of that, and the TSP update because that's a big undertaking,” she said. Rachel also reported there have been few new applications since May and that one subdivision application has been deemed incomplete; staff are working with the applicant to complete the submittal.
The pause is framed as a temporary re-prioritization: Rachel told the commission she has ideas for future work but intends to develop a plan before presenting it to commissioners. The chair and staff said they will return with updates as the TSP and current planning files move forward.
