Butler County awards bridge surveys and road maintenance contracts totaling roughly $317,692

Public Works Director Curtis Mader reported three bridge structures were candidates for the Bridge Improvement Program and presented bids for survey work. Schwab Eaton submitted the low bid of $8,000 per structure, $24,000 total, and the board awarded the work 4-0. Mader said the county can save money by performing in-house design while using a licensed surveyor for surveys.
Mader also presented a single turnkey bid from Vance Brothers LLC for micro surfacing, traffic control and pavement markings on SW Butler Rd. and Rosewood Rd. for $292,692.77 and recommended that micro surfacing be used rather than chip or slurry seal given traffic volume and recycled surface conditions. The board approved that bid 4-0 and separately approved striping work from Straight Line Striping at $1,800 per mile, noting the per-mile price declined from approximately $1,950 in 2025.
