Deputy Corporation Counsel Chris Nahulu Nunokawa provided a comprehensive orientation on Hawaiʻi’s Sunshine Law, county ethics requirements and conflict-of-interest rules during the Housing Advisory Board’s Feb. 19, 2026, inaugural meeting. He addressed questions from the director and board members and committed to forwarding his edits and presentation materials to the department for distribution before the next meeting.
Members used the orientation to clarify procedural limits the HAB must observe, including how executive sessions should be handled and how testimony time limits might be applied. Nunokawa’s guidance will form the basis for the board’s draft Rules of Procedure, which was discussed but not acted on at the meeting.
