Housing Advisory Board elects officers at inaugural Feb. 19 meeting

At its inaugural meeting on Feb. 19, 2026, the Maui County Housing Advisory Board elected William Spence as chair, Sandra Duvauchelle as vice-chair and Leilani Pulmano as secretary. The meeting began at 9:13 a.m., and the board recorded one vacancy and the attendance of four appointed members and two department directors.

Nominations were made and seconded on the record: Member Sandra Duvauchelle moved and Member Leilani Pulmano seconded the nomination of William Spence for chair; the motion was recorded as passing with three in favor and one abstention (Spence abstained from voting for himself). Member William Curtis moved and Pulmano seconded the nomination of Duvauchelle for vice-chair; that motion was recorded as passing with the same tally. Duvauchelle then moved and Spence seconded Pulmano's nomination as secretary, also recorded as passing with three in favor and one abstention. The board listed the results as Chair: William Spence; Vice-Chair: Sandra Duvauchelle; Secretary: Leilani Pulmano.

The election was conducted under the direction of Housing Director Richard E. Mitchell. No public testimony was received prior to the vote. The board did not take other formal actions during the election item, and the newly elected officers will preside at subsequent meetings until successors are chosen or terms end.
