Commission OKs amendment to Shield AI airport lease to change concrete pad location and size

The Board unanimously approved an amendment to Shield AI Inc.’s hangar and ground lease on March 3 to modify the location and size of the concrete pad and leased land serving the leased premises at Newton City-County Airport. Airport Manager Brian Palmer said Shield AI requested the change to support their operations; the amendment adjusts the pad dimensions and increases lease rates commensurately.
The lease amendment specifies the pad and related improvements, and allows Shield AI to construct taxiway extensions, install a rail system and a crane, and to fence the pad area at the company's expense subject to airport approval and FAA requirements. Commissioner Don Schroeder moved approval; Becky Reimer seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
