Board appoints Jarrett Holle as Lakin Township clerk

The Harvey County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously Jan. 20 to appoint Jarrett Holle to fill the unexpired term as Lakin Township clerk effective immediately. Don Schroeder made the motion and Becky Reimer seconded; the board passed the motion without opposition.
Rick Piepho, county clerk and staff contact on the agenda item, provided background in the packet noting that Tony Brown vacated the clerk position by moving out of the township and that remaining township officers had recommended Holle. State law cited in the staff report (KSA 25-1606 and KSA 80-201) directs that township officer vacancies be filled by the county commission; the appointment will carry Holle through the remainder of the unexpired term.
The appointment was recorded on the meeting’s consent and action items; commissioners did not include additional conditions or discussion. The commission adjourned at 10:40 a.m.
