Mansfield district reports $300,000 safety fencing grant and other facility awards

Superintendent Bruce Todd told the board the district was awarded a $300,000 safety and security grant to install fencing around school grounds and that staff are obtaining bids for work to begin this spring or summer. He also reported an awarded $150,000 ADA grant to widen the Ag classroom doorway and install automated openers and a $100,000 Douglas County PUD grant intended to replace windows and doors. The district has additionally applied for a $200,000 Healthy Kids, Healthy School grant to buy weight‑room and playground equipment and possibly an outdoor sports court.
Todd said the district will move forward with the procurement process and field prep: a field work day is planned to remove and redistribute dirt from the northwest corner before fence installation. No construction contracts or start dates were recorded in the minutes; the board discussion recorded was limited to grant awards and next steps for bidding.
