County continues 'FLOW Forward' GIS water‑system data project despite local utilities' concerns about sharing detailed maps

"This information is not for public use... it will be stored in a private area and is only for county, only for county use, or at y'alls direction," the presenter said. Staff explained the project is intended to give the commission and emergency managers a single operational picture of mains, valves and pump stations to speed decision making during planning and emergencies.
Several water districts and their engineers have expressed caution about sharing detailed valve placements and pumping‑station specifics; staff said participation is a relationship exercise and that some engineering firms may also hold CAD data the county can request. The county’s intern is ingesting received datasets and staff will reach out to remaining districts to build the database.
