Anahi Melendrez teleconferenced before the board and disclosed a felony embezzlement conviction from February 2022; the transcript notes he "did no jail time and served his probation." After review of submitted paperwork, Joseph Foley moved and Ihsan Azzam seconded a motion to allow Melendrez to sit for the registered license exam; the board voted in favor. The board also allowed Kimberly Corona Espinoza to test for a crossover license after she said she had completed her program despite exceeding the time limit.
The board narrowly allowed Ron Michael Imperial to test for the registered exam despite staff reporting a suspected falsified license found at Fade Factory Barbershop in 2023; the motion passed 3–1 (Ihsan Azzam moved; Raymon Green seconded; President Toby Chavez voted no). The board noted the AG's office had been contacted previously about the confiscated license and that Imperial later completed barber school and an apprentice exam under a different name configuration.
