Ferry Road soccer field construction to start within weeks, selectmen hear

The Board of Selectmen received a construction update for the Ferry Road Soccer Field. Chair said work is scheduled to begin in about two weeks and described a four-week construction timeline, with irrigation, new grass, a scoreboard, bathrooms and improved parking planned.
A committee member said the field has long been discussed and that the new layout (sized for U12) will be a substantial improvement over the prior condition. Chair noted the field may not be playable this fall but should be ready for use by next summer if seeding and irrigation establish properly.
Members discussed shade and amenities but made no new appropriations; the timeline was presented as a staffed construction schedule with follow-up coordination to ensure amenities meet youth-soccer needs.
