Board seeks to trace $1,944 payment possibly posted to county general fund instead of wetlands in‑lieu account

Paul Watson told the board that the treasurer checked the in‑lieu fund bank statements for several months after the payment was received and found no deposit in the in‑lieu account. "It looks like we got the check February 4... and there was no deposit in the in lieu fund bank account at all," Watson said, and staff noted the amount in question is $1,944.
Board members asked staff to work with the treasurer and locate the deposit; Watson said the transaction may have been posted to the county general fund and that finding this bank receipt should be straightforward because the amount is unusual. The chair asked Watson to contact Treasurer James and follow up with the board; Watson said he would also reach out to other county staff (including Lowleston) to reconcile the item.
The matter is administrative but important to ensure in‑lieu funds intended for wetland restoration are correctly reported and available for their intended use. Staff expects to report back to the board after consulting the treasurer and locating the receipt or requesting a transfer if necessary.
