Chief Sheffer provided multiple items in his report at the June 1 meeting. He presented a certificate of appreciation to Taylor Rogers for assisting a young child found near the mill on May 22 at 5:30 a.m. He asked to close 2nd Street between Main and Chestnut for the "Christmas in July" event on July 18, noting a request had been made to the department.
Sheffer said three new applicants are in process for department openings. He stated he will most likely resign in July and that J.T. DeChant will start on June 15 and later replace him. Sheffer also reported that after heavy rains the police building has a musty smell and recommended procuring dehumidifiers; Administrator Snell will have the Street Department look at the situation.
The minutes record these items as department updates; no formal personnel action or vote on the street closure appears in the meeting record.
