The County considered a request (submitted by Nikolo Guerra) to allow the Alaniz Fairgrounds to be used for a Fall Festival on Nov. 2, 2024, with Brooks County, the City of Falfurrias and Texas A&M AgriLife Extension listed as hosts. Commissioners also considered a related item seeking to lift the beer ban at the fairgrounds for festival dates Nov. 1–3, 2024.
On both items Commissioner Horacio Villarreal III moved to table and Commissioner Martin "Marty" Cabrera seconded; the Court voted unanimously to table each request. No approval or policy change was made at the Sept. 12 meeting and the matters remain pending for future action.
