Council approves work item to evaluate relocating Bel Air lift station north of Bellaire Boulevard

Council pulled consent item C for discussion and Omar Khanna, Director of Capital Projects, explained that the feasibility analysis for the Bel Air Lift Station examines alternatives including relocating the lift station from its current median location to a separate tract north of Bellaire Boulevard or performing engineering work to reroute wastewater to another facility or directly to the wastewater treatment plant. "Currently... the plan is to do a reevaluation and see if there are any other alternatives to either relocate the Bel Air Lift Station or... divert it to another facility," Khanna said.
Councilmembers asked whether potential relocation sites might be adjacent to private residences; Khanna said staff is evaluating multiple alternatives and will avoid siting close to a single residence where possible. The vote to approve the work item and authorize the city manager to execute associated documentation carried unanimously.
