Staff delivered the economic development and capital-projects report, highlighting recent recruitment wins and active construction projects. The report identified a newly opened restaurant from the city’s target list, a four-story La Quinta Del Sol hotel estimated at $8–10 million and a 140,000-square-foot Huntington warehouse under construction for logistics and distribution.
Staff summarized the capital-improvement program: roughly $8 million in completed CIP projects, about $12 million currently under construction, $21 million in design and additional projects in planning. “We have over $78,000,000 in need of projects,” staff said, adding that the city will pursue public-private partnerships and development agreements to move high-priority projects forward.
Board members discussed scheduling a coordinated workshop among the parks board, Type B board and city council to analyze parks operations, maintenance needs and prioritization. Staff said they will coordinate dates with the city secretary and city manager and bring workshop details to the boards when scheduled. Star Transit was noted as scheduled to present an update at the next meeting.
