"By eliminating that step, it helps to reduce the amount of time that a developer has to go through our processes," she said.
Lauren also described proposed edits to home-occupation rules—prohibiting customer arrivals before 7 a.m. or after 10 p.m.—and an increase in parkland dedication tied to the new parks master plan to 1 acre per 35 dwelling units. Staff noted separate clarifications to sign regulations (spacing for minor/major monument signs and pole signs) and corrected misplaced definitions related to drone delivery.
Commissioners asked for engineering and legal review of design-related standards and requested the proposed changes be presented in side-by-side redlines so they can see specific deletions and additions. Staff agreed to supply comparative documents and to invite the city engineer to future meetings to address technical design questions.
