Selectmen review parks, sidewalks and playground priorities as surplus recommendations move forward

During the fiscal-item discussion, selectmen and staff reviewed a set of capital projects that could be funded in part with surplus or grant dollars. Staff previewed that Ferry Road soccer field construction would start shortly and be completed in a matter of weeks; Clark Park and Seaview/Point projects were discussed as larger multi-phase investments requiring additional planning and potential grant applications.

Board members and residents raised specific local priorities: resurfacing or repairs at Trask Park playground, ways to create low-cost community access to new Kate classrooms, and coordination of parking and pedestrian access to new park uses. Staff said landscape-architect bids were competitive and the proposed $1,000,000 appropriation for Sabre Point would fund architectural and early construction work.
