One complaint originated as what the caller described as a home invasion but, following review of body-camera footage and interviews, staff concluded that the report did not support sustained findings. The second complaint involved a town resident who objected to officers responding to a report of a lone man in camouflage at a playground; the resident alleged the response was racially motivated. The captain said body-camera footage showed officers conducted themselves professionally, engaged the individual, and later met with the resident to explain procedures.
Commissioners asked whether dispatch recordings and prior contacts were reviewed; staff confirmed the dispatch call and prior incidents were included in the inquiry and that the complainant received written notice of the investigation outcome in early July. The department said it also extended an invitation for the family to visit the station to discuss the matter and to build relationships.
