The Williamstown Cemetery Commission opened its Sept. 26 meeting by approving the Aug. 22, 2024 minutes (motion by Orvil Lasell; second Susan Lyons) and reviewing the Sept. 26 Budget Status Report. The report listed warrants to Kirkyard Services, LLC (mowing Inv. 2088 for $5,125.00; Inv. 2043 $421.00 for two sets of corner posts; burial charge $350.00; other items) and a total paid-out figure of $6,226.00. The commission also recorded $1,050.00 in income for two burials ($800.00) and two grass markers ($250.00).
During discussion of grounds work, the commission reviewed a quote from contractor Bobby Molinario to repair the lower road and hillside in the Village Cemetery for $2,350. "I'll make the Motion to accept the quote of $2,350 and take the money from the Cemetery Project Reserve Fund," said Susan Lyons; the motion was seconded by Daphne Herwig and approved unanimously. The minutes note the commission has available funds in the Cemetery Project Reserve Fund to cover the work.
The meeting record shows a $184.11 check from Virtus was received and mailed to Treasurer Gary Storrs on Sept. 27, 2024; the minutes list the related account balance as $47,318.41. Commissioners asked staff to confirm deposit receipts with the town treasurer ahead of the Oct. meeting. The commission set preliminary budget figures for review at the Oct. 24 meeting.
