Residents urge action on dangerous curve and obstructed banners during public comment

During the public-comment portion, a resident who said he is building on Mayfair asked the council to investigate a deep, high curve at Fornus and South Rice that he said causes bumper damage and flat tires. He urged the city to “take a look at intersection” and address what he described as a safety issue; council members and staff said they would coordinate with City of Houston and the developer because the north side of the intersection falls inside Houston’s jurisdiction.
Longtime resident Laura Zito also spoke during public comment about tonight’s logo presentation and about visibility of newly installed banners on Bel Air Boulevard that are being obstructed by tree limbs. Zito asked that city staff check whether the obstructions are on private or public property and ensure banners are visible where installed.
Council acknowledged both items and asked staff to follow up with neighbors and the appropriate agencies; council emphasized the need to balance resident input and efficient implementation of city projects.
