Bellbrook council ratifies police officers’ and sergeants’ contracts through 2029

Bellbrook City Council voted to ratify collective bargaining agreements for police officers and sergeants covering the period Aug. 1, 2026, through July 31, 2029, under Resolution 2026‑R‑23. City Manager Rob Schomer said both unions had ratified their sides and requested council’s ratification and authorization to execute the agreements.
Schomer described negotiated terms and told council the agreements include items intended to make policing careers more competitive in recruitment. Council members praised the approach; one member noted a provision allowing sick leave portability for officers transferring from other departments as an example of a recruitment‑friendly term.
The resolution was moved, seconded and adopted on the council floor.
