The Bedford City Council voted to award a construction contract to MGS Cortex Construction Inc. for the city's Veterans Memorial Plaza project. City Manager Andrea Roy told the council the low bid was $193,500, with a $25,000 contingency for a total project allocation of $218,500 funded by the Series 2019 geotaxable bonds.
"We received 10 responses and MGS was the successful bidder based on our scoring criteria that we applied," Roy said, describing the procurement and funding source. Council members asked about the construction timeline; a contractor representative said crews could mobilize as soon as equipment is staged and the city is "shooting for a specific day in November" for project completion. The contract was approved as part of the consent agenda and council indicated plans for a community celebration tied to the memorial's completion.
