The fire station base bid came in under the $150,000 general fund budget, and staff said adding the window alternate would require a roughly $35,000 amendment to fully cover the work. Staff recommended proceeding this summer because competitive bids were strong and delaying the project could increase costs.
Council moved and seconded acceptance of alternate 5 (including windows) and approved the combined contract on voice vote. Staff said the project can be completed this summer, weather permitting, and that available fund reserves and project savings from other utility projects would cover the recommended approach.
