Parent urges clarity about staff listings after child reports seeing staff "wearing a wig and lipstick" at elementary school

Rex King, a Lakeville father of three and parent of students at Eastview Elementary, used public comment time to ask why some staff members are not listed or pictured in elementary school yearbooks and to raise concerns about age-appropriate exposure for young children. "My youngest came home and said at 6 years old, there's a man at our school who wears a wig and lipstick," King said, adding he had raised the matter with his child's principal and was told confidentiality limits what the principal could share.

King asked the board how parents can know who is working in their children's schools when staff are not listed or pictured, and whether the district has guidelines about how employees are identified in yearbooks. The board thanked King for his remarks; no board response was given during the public comment period, consistent with the district's stated public comment rules that the chair read at the start of the meeting.

The board did not take action on the topic during the meeting. The chair and superintendent indicated the administration would follow up outside the public meeting for privacy reasons and to address any individual concerns King raised.
