Communications and Cultural Arts staff presented a combined update on library, tourism and communications activities during the June 23 meeting, highlighting grant funding, program participation, and recent increases in online engagement.
Amanda Garcia, the library manager, recapped the library’s programs, including an adult online high school graduation and summer reading activities; she told the council the library has secured “more than $440,000 in grants and donations,” naming Save the Children and local partners as contributors. Samantha (communications and cultural arts) described a new community resource guide that will go live and a planned youth advisory council. Ray Beltran, the communications manager, said the city adopted its first communications policy earlier in the year and reported higher web traffic and social engagement: he noted website traffic of about 4,190 over a two-month period and roughly 289,000 Facebook views for that reporting window.
Staff also outlined near-term priorities including an RFP for destination marketing services, Main Street programming and short-term rental compliance outreach with platforms, and preparations for summer events such as the July 4 fireworks at Latull Park. No council action was required; the presentation was informational.
