Council debates ending liaison program, keeps it in place and fills board vacancies

Following that vote, the council approved a set of liaison assignments and filled vacancies on boards and commissions. The council appointed Randy Wise to Planning & Zoning (place 3), Matthew Walker to Parks (place 2) and Catherine Swofford to EDC place 3; each appointment passed unanimously.
Council members discussed the origins of the liaison program and whether it remains necessary as staff and meetings are recorded and attendance practices have changed. No formal ordinance to end the program was passed; the program remains in effect.
